At Charter School, Higher Teacher Pay

	<ABSTRACT>

This New York Times article discusses the start of a New York City charter school at which all teachers will earn $125,000, with the principal making $90,000. The charter school, run entirely on public funds, is the brainchild of a Teach For America graduate. Vanderhoek will use criterion such as high GRE scores and at least three years of experience to hire his teachers. To stay within budget constraints, the school will have larger-than-average class sizes, no administrators besides one principal, only two electives, and other stripped-down infrastructure.
