<TITLE>Role, Data Coach: To ensure that student achievement data drive decisions in classroom and school</TITLE>
&lt;p&gt;More and more, teachers in instructional support roles are asked to wear the hat of &amp;quot;Data Coach,&amp;quot; assisting educators as they examine all kinds of school information, including student achievement, perception, demographic, and process data. In this role, coaches help individual teachers and teacher teams understand their students' strengths and weaknesses, and identify instructional strategies, structures, programs, or curriculum to address identified needs. This article from NSDC's &amp;quot;Teachers Teaching Teachers&amp;quot; newsletter explores the emerging job description for a data or &amp;quot;student achievement&amp;quot; coach -- and in doing so, underscores the kind of professional development needed to help prepare coaches for this role.
