"When groups of teachers, working hand-in-hand with school administrators, commit to changing the culture in their schools, they get results." So begins the article "Creating a Culture of Change" in the Spring 2004 issue of the Journal of Staff Development. It tells the story of the Assessment for Learning initiative undertaken by the Edmonton (Alberta, Canada) Catholic Schools District, which uses school leadership teams to build collaborative school cultures focused on outcomes. The article summarizes 10 conditions that the Edmonton team believes are critical in a successful change process. (336k PDF file)
