This report fleshes out a startling statistic: that one third of all public high school students, and almost half of all blacks, Hispanic, and Native Americans, drop out every year. This report, put out by Civic Enterprises with Peter D. Hart Research Associates for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, breaks down the statistics and makes policy recommendations: improve access to support for struggling students, improve the communication between parents and schools, build a school climate that fosters academics, etc.
