Abstract:

The Spring 2004 issue of the Journal of Staff Development is filled with worthwhile articles about school-based staff development and the nurturing of professional learning communities. Including: "Coaching Moves Beyond the Gym," "Creating a Culture of Change," "Role of the Coach," and "The Best Staff Development Is in the Workplace, Not in a Workshop." These articles reflect NSDC's new focus on the training and support needs of school-based staff developers (and convince us that savvy teacher coaches should join NSDC!). The Council's website also features a new resource area dedicated to this burgeoning area of professional development.
