A TLN member recently reminded us of this to-the-point article from the Harvard Education Letter (July-August 2001), describing some findings from Harvard's Project on the Next Generation of Teachers. It paints a discouraging picture of the support many new teachers receive in "sink or swim" school environments. Based on their research, the authors describe in broad terms the keys to successful new-teacher induction, which "hinges on how teachers work together."
