Julie Breaux-Bliss admits she was one of the naysayers when Houston's Reagan High School began involving teachers in more decision making, and being resources for their own professional development. In this article from the National Staff Development Council's "Results" (November 2004), Bliss admits: "At first, I thought, 'This won't work. Who wants to hear this from the redhead down the hall?' " Five years later, she's singing a new tune, as she and her colleagues do the patient work of a professional learning community, solving problems together.
