This report from Public Agenda and the National Comprehensive Center for Teacher Quality synthesizes data from a 2007 survey of 641 new teachers. The report focuses on several "findings"--differences between grade school and secondary school teachers' retention and reasons for teaching, preparation, etc.; challenges that arise when teaching in high-needs schools; new teachers' ideas for improving the profession, and the importance of salary (45% viewed low salary and not much opportunity for growth as a "minor" drawback; 33% said it was major). The graphical representations of survey data make this PDF report an easily digestible source of information.
