A few weeks after the Teacher Leaders Network was established in March 2003, more than 180 accomplished teachers from five southeastern states participated in a moderated three-day conversation around the question: "What does it mean to be a teacher leader?" This 40-page excerpt covers the main themes and provides some of the flavor (and enthusiasm) of this initial dialogue. The range of points of view about the meaning of "teacher leadership" will be of interest to anyone promoting the concept of teacher leadership for school reform.
