We'll let TLN member Mary Anne tell you about this resource! "Two or three days ago, ASCD's latest book club selection hit my mailbox. Carol Ann Tomlinson and Jay McTighe have collaborated on a great piece -- Differentiated Instruction and Understanding By Design, now together in one volume. I have been reading the book all day at stoplights, while waiting for appointments, while supper cooked. It really is a page turner. The book made me think about how many times we grab onto a new idea in education, only to have it fade away. These two philosophies (they are not "programs" or ways to program instruction but perspectives on the way we approach learning and kids) have shaped my practice over the past 15 years in a major way. They are hard work, but they persist." Follow this link to read sample chapters from the book "Integrating Differentiated Instruction and Understanding By Design."
