Abstract:

The TeachersCount organization, based in New York City, focuses its work on raising public awareness about the importance of teaching and the contributions teachers make to American society. A good cause! The group's website includes a monthly feature, "TeachersTopic," where a variety of "prominent experts" are interviewed on important issues. This Q&A features Betsy Rogers, the 2003 National Teacher of the Year (and a TLN member) who shares her thoughts on teacher leadership. One quote: "I believe our first duty as teacher leaders is to seek ways to improve learning in our schools... Teacher leaders have an obligation to be a voice for children."
